Kevin DuBrow died?!?

I juts read it on MySpace. What a shocker I'm not a fan of QR but hey who wasn't moved by 'Cum On Feel The Noize' on its day?

R.I.P Kevin

Metal Health was the beginning of the tidal wave man.

Truer words were never spoken.

Never got to see them live, but I've always enjoyed MH, CC, and select stuff from III. The first one with Randy is entertaining as well.

Can't say I wasn't bummed when I saw this... :erk: I'm gonna crank a few tunes later as well. :headbang:

from blabbermouth:
GLENN HUGHES: KEVIN DUBROW 'Was A Very Dear Close Friend, A Brother To Me' - Nov. 26, 2007

Legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has released the following brief statement regarding the passing of QUIET RIOT singer Kevin DuBrow:

"I will make a statement when the time is appropriate. Keep his family in your thoughts. He was a very dear close friend, a brother to me. I need to grieve in private. Shine on, dear Kevin."

Glenn Hughes made a guest vocal appearance on QUIET RIOT's latest studio CD, "Rehab", which was released on October 3, 2006. The lineup on the album was Kevin DuBrow, Frankie Banali, Tony Franklin and Neil Citron.

QUIET RIOT was the first metal band to top the Billboard chart and is perhaps best known for its cover of SLADE's "Cum on Feel the Noize".

In 2004, DuBrow recorded a collection of cover versions for his first solo album, "In for the Kill".

no word on cause of death? ... one of the first "metal" bands i got into back in like 1983 along with Def Leppard and Twisted Sister... may he R.I.P. and play with Randy again...

Glenn Hughes eludes to the fact that Kevin wasn't doing too well...
Check out the statement on Melodicrock.com:

Frankie Banali: "I can't even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow."

Friend and fellow vocal legend Glenn Hughes comments to MelodicRock.com: "We are all grieving...Kevin and I were brothers....We spoke daily, and I mean on the phone, not email.....the Kevin that I knew was a beautiful human being.... He was kind, giving, nurturing.... And generous.....
He would stay @ my LA home when he was in town.... I never saw Kevin Loaded... He respected my sobriety... He always spoke how about the change of my lifestyle, and how he also wanted to change his.....the last conversation I had with him 10 days ago, was about this subject, he said he had to make some life changes.... I was so happy and elated to hear this....
Gabi and I spoke to him last on Fri, the 16th of Nov.... He wanted to know if I could pick him up @ LAX. On the 23rd, the day of a Party @ my house.....then , there was nothing, no communication..... Zero.... Come thanksgiving I knew something was strange.... @ the house, Kevin's room was prepared as always, with his fave Candies next to the bed.... He always requests them when he stays.... I thought, he's gonna come jumping thru the door any minute and Demand to play the winner of the Pool game between Chad Smith and myself.....
As the Party ended, Gabi and I spoke of his absence... She was very upset..... All along, I felt something seriously wrong.... Come Sunday Morning , I couldn't take it anymore. And called Lark Williams. Kevs ex-girlfriend. She was in San Francisco.. I asked her if she knew a paramedic who could go over to Kevs house and investigate..... Dana, the Medic, got in the house only to find my sweet brother......@ peace..... I am completely shell shocked... We were planning to go 2 Hawaii for some relaxation in the new year...... For those of you that didn't know him..... He was a true, true friend.... l'm gonna miss our dinners @ the Palm in Beverly hills.....I'm gonna miss his loud voice bellowing thru my house... I'm gonna miss those oh so corny jokes.... We all will miss him.....sleep well brother.. your legacy is in good hands with me..... Your loving brother Glenn xxx."

QR bassist Chuck Wright comments to MelodicRock.com: "I'm completely shocked and devastated. I've truly lost a brother and it's a very sad loss for the world of rock n' roll. I'm so very fortunate to have been a part of his life these past 26 years. I have so many fond memories and it's a blessing that these recent few years have been so great with the band. There is no reason to say "I wish we could have ...we did!" I still can't believe I won't be sharing the stage with his larger than life presence ever again. The man left a mark wherever he went and I'm heartbroken that he is no longer with us. Blessings, Chuck."

Original QR bassist Kelly Garni: "I ask this to all of you not only for myself but for other friends and family. I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I'm sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time. I am already within hours of this having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board and now is not the time for that. I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will effect us all. So please, until then, be patient. All details and other pertinent info will be passed on to you here when it becomes available to me. Thank you."

this is a real shocker. i love quiet riot and own every album. their new album rehab was a good 70's style blues hard rock album. i hope kevin and randy are jamming again. he was a very important figure in metal history

 Very sad. I found out about it yesterday afternoon when my friend Jackie told me. Fox News here in L.A. even mentioned his passing last night during the 10 o'clock hour.

I still remember Kevin being on KMET 94.7 in L.A. back in 1984 or '85 promoting their show at the Forum that night for the Condition Critical tour and just constantly talking as was his style. :)

Metal Health is still one of my favorite albums. :kickass:

R.I.P. Good Sir. You shall be missed.

Terrified is also on my list of essential Quiet Riot albums...

their whole output from terrified-rehab is great and hugely underrated. i love the album down to the bone and alive and well and guilty pleasures aren't that bad

DTTB and Alive and Well have their moments, I couldn't find any redeeming value in Guilty Pleasures, I will say "Rock the House" is the standout on tat album...

street fighter and 2 other tracks (not counting rock the house since you mentioned it) on guilty pleasures were pretty good, that is the weakest album QR has done IMO though
