Kick/Bass Sidechain question...

I usually sidechain my kick drum to compress my bass track.

Maybe this is common practice but I'm just curious to know what people that do this usually do when really fast double bass parts happen? Do you automate the compressor to not compress as much or do you just bypass it altogether for that part.

Or maybe theres a different approach I haven't thought of?

I generally sidechain compress only the lows of the bass when the kick hits, I generally have the bass split into multiple tracks the lows and highs separate. So only the low track gets compressed a few db's when the kick hits. Or you can use multiband C4 or alike.
