Whats your Favourite

I know Most of you are Replacers but for those who use mics, not jst for metal also

Particularly interested in your thoughts of the Sennheiser e602 If uve used one before

:D

Audix D6 for metal or anything hi-tempo that needs a lot of attack
AKG D112 for more rocky - big/round sound
Heil PR40- Overall just really flat with a great extended range. Pretty much for any kit that just sounds beautiful. Good blend with D6 to add more body.

the D6 is pretty popular here

I've used a 602 a few times, think it sounds a bit plastic / synthetic / not so organic but not bad at all for more modern metal styles.
In my opinion it sounds the best outside the kick (half a meter away from it) but that gives you way to little separation if you want to do any editing...
I really like the sound of a 602 combined with a beta91.
I prefer the 902 to the 602 on it's own, it sounds more organic and has better low end response if you ask me.

I'm in the minority here, but I'm not too hot on the D6, I get more out of Beta52 or Opus99.. Just something in the attack of the D6 that I don't like. In the studio, that is. It's been working live, tho'..

I realy like the d6, but the lowend can get too flappy, and i hate it on 22/24 inch kicks.... it works wonders on smaller kicks imo, am i the only one with this problem?

Since i had the problem of the d6 sounding strange on bigger kicks i started using the beta 91 and d112 more again, i also realy like the beta 91 + subkick combo!

I like the Shure beta 52- found I got a sound i liked with it when I messed with it a bit. Didn't really like the D112- didn't really have much definition or something. Got a D6 on the way hopefully with a set of audix mics. can't wait to try that out

I've been using my Beta52's for years and have gotten some great sounds, even out of really shitty mic placements (from my earlier days of course)

I mostly use a Beyer M99. Kind of flat, and easy to mold into my needs. Don't need to trig that, unless the drummer is really bad. The D112 has a terrible impulse response, but the attack is like a kick in the head, compared to a Beta 52. AE2500 is also a really good mic. Works on everything, kick-snare-cabs. Awesome mic.

d6 for heavy rock hardcore and metal, d112 for more rocky stuff.
always with the subkick (diy)
