I've borrowed a bunch of mics a few days for drum tracking, but I need some suggestions/tips on what would be best to use them on. I'm obviously going to try all sorts of different options, but a few pointers would be much appreciated!

I've got:

1 Audix D6 - kick
1 Sennheiser e901 - kick?
1 Sennheiser e905 - snare? snare bottom?
4 Sennheiser e904 - toms
1 Sennheiser e906 - toms?
1 Sennheiser e85s - ?
1 Sennheiser e845 - ?
2 AT AT4041 - overheads? or room?
1 AT ATM450 - no idea, hats?
4 Shure SM57 - snare. hats or ride too?
1 Shure Beta 56A - snare?
2 AKG C-414B - overheads?
1 AT ATM450 - ?

Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot a few

With that list I would probably go:

AT AT4041 - Overheads
AT ATM450 - Hat
AKG C-414B - Cymbals
Audix D6 - Kick Outside
Sennheiser e901 - Kick Inside
Sennheiser e905 - Snare Top
Shure B56A - Snare Side
Shure SM57 - Snare Bottom
Sennheiser e904 - Rack Toms
Sennheiser e906 - Floor Tom (better low end extension than the 904's)
Shure SM57 - Room

To be honest though you've got a pretty good selection there and can't really go wrong with any of it. Condenders of OH's/Cymbals. Dynamic's on toms/snare and a D6/901 combo on the kick. Stick whatever's left up as a room mic and you're done.

This is what I'd start with:

Kick - D6, e901
Snare - 57 top/bottom, try e906 on both and Beta 56 on top
Toms - e904's, try B56 or e906 on floor
HH/Ride - ATM450's
Room 1 - e85 pair (the S is close enough to the e85 to be used as a stereo room pair)

Try out both C414 and AT4041 on overheads and see which you end up liking more. If you like the AT's more, use the 414's as room mics. If you like the 414 more, use the 4041's as either cymbal spot mics or room mics.
