Our drummer just got a new set, and also just picked up a "Kickport".

This thing is weird. I'm not sure whether I like it or dislike it. We threw a mic in front of it to run the kick through the PA, but its just horrible boomy feedback and a weird resonance coming from the port.

Anyone else use or have experience with these? I did some online reading and a lot of positive reviews.

there okay. i've heard TONS of them on tons of different kinds of kits... never bought into the hype. our drum guy at work says you can really hear the difference under a mic but i've never tried it myself, personally.

just another gimmick, IMO.... however, it DOES definitely shift the fundamental of the entire drum up out of the sub-sonic region into this weird, higher-low mid kind of sound....so, IDK.

further testing is needed!

Have alot of guys coming through the venue I run sound at with these, seems to get the subs working a bit more I think. Probably gonna grab one for my studio kit at some point.
