I've heard the title track from the latest ep and it's actually really cool!. Strangely enough, it's very heavy, with distorted vocals (yes I know they've done that before) over this cool heavy riff. I might get that EP.

http://www.elephant-talk.com is an awesome site.

There have been several incarnations of King Crimson, here are a few of the major ones (they have always been progressive though).

'69-'72: lots of woodwinds, mellotrons up the arse, happy and folk sounding
'73-'74: my favorite period, imagine the greatest rock n' roll ever played with odd time signatures
'80-'84(?): sounds like an 80s band playing progressive, and they are all wearing suits on stage.
'95-present: imagine a trippier version of the 80s, lots of long drawn out pieces and subtleties.

I hope this helps, it may, but it may not! It probably makes more sense to someone already familiar with King Crimson.

The title track of Happy With... (which rules) will be included in a longer version on the new album, the Power To Believe. So will Level Five and Dangerous Curves, two excellent tracks debuted on recent tours and included on a limited edition EP.

King Crimson is very diverse because the members have constantly changed giving them a new sound very often. The first four albums (69-72) are a very intence mix of rock, jazz, classical and folk. The albums contains many flutes, saxiphones and mellontrones. The next three albums (73-74) were much more hard rocking and contained a ton of violins. The following three albums (80-83) were an odd mix of new wave and prog rock. Now they play a far more heavy, progressive variation of the 80's material, pluse tons of new influences from the past decade. The sond changes from album to album drasticly considering they've had 5 singers, 7 bassists, 5 drummers and an onslaut of flautests, piano players and violinsests.

What's amazing is the way they've managed to be consistently great throughout their career, even through the rise of 'neo-prog' in the 80s which signalled the downfall of many of prog-rock's greats. KC still kick ass to this day. The only album (of the ones i've heard) that I can't really get into is Islands. Dunno why really.

Tough to make a call, I went with In The Court because of the dynamics, melodies, innovation, and it was the first KC i heard. I could easily have chosen Red, LTIA, or Discipline depending on my mood. Gotta get Poseiden, it's one of the few I don't have.

Yeah, it's almost like In the Court of... part 2. :)

Wow, there's a King Crimson thread and I've almost missed it!
I LOVE 'em, I love almost all of their Cd's, I had a hard choice between Red and In The.., but finally chose In The because I love its psychedelicness :).
Anyways, they're a great band, and if you like them you'll also like Van Der Graaf Generator, some of Genesis and Gong (great great great great band!).
Btw, what about some Robert Wyatt? anyone?

wow, I'm enthusiastic! weehee :D.
anyways,
Vive le King Crimson!

ConstruKtion of Light, followed by Starless. Great fucking albums. Hey has anyone here read the King Crimson biography, "In the court of King Crimson"? It's amazing, and I highly reccomend it for any Crimson fan.

*** ONLY JUST LISTENING TO "IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING" FOR THE FIRST TIME ***

Wow, this is good!! :D I actually only bothered because the guitarist (yes, alright I don't know his name... ) was on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and he was quite funny, so I thought I'd give 'em a go. And now I'll buy buying some albums. I just thought I'd let you all know. :p
