I figure it's a great opportunity.. how many times will they play the US, how many places in the US that they'd play have these facilities and capabilities/experience, and on a tour, unless headlining - they'd get less than an hour anyway
Why not capture an hour set in the US, plus all backstage/bonus stuff...?
Hmmm... this is just a guess, but perhaps if multiple bands film their set during the same fest, they can split some of the equipment and recording costs?
Actually it's three. Glenn or Jen posted on Facebook that Mystic Prophecy is recording their set to be released as a bonus disc for their next release.
I must have missed the Mystic Prophecy announcement, but that's cool.
And it's a smart decision for the bands involved. There's already going to be a recording crew here. Why not take advantage of that fact? And it's a more quaint and genre-friendly environment for these bands than getting video from a performance at, say Wacken or some such.
