I'm confused. Didn't they just reunite and have a great big goodbye tour and lay the thing to rest? How can there be a new album if they've stopped the band?

Heheh yep Spawny hit it on the head. You see, Kiss are so intelligent that they can see through the fans cover that they are pretending to be pissed off about what Gene is doing. Kiss know that we all really do wanna see people we've never heard of dress up in Kiss makeup and cover their songs and charge about $150 a ticket. I mean this way Gene and Paul can put their time to better use, such as creating things like Kiss Kondoms for us.
Who needs them to play music when we can just buy pointless items of merchandise simply because they say "Kiss"?

And what's this about Vinnie and Mark playing on it? Gene & Paul haven't been on speaking terms with those guys for years!

Vinnie and Mark??? Vinnie just sued Kiss last year, and in the same case Kiss were suing Vinnie for things. I doubt they would do any recording with him.
And I was gonna say maybe it just means that it has live recordings from 1982-84 on the 3rd disc or something, but Mark never played live with Kiss. Hell, he hardly even played on Animalize, Bruce played some of those solos.
And if it is true about Mark and Vinnie recording solos on this, that means that it is pretty much no secret that this "live" album is studio recorded.
