Hey guys,
I don't know shit about that whole Kontakt thing but if I understood it right it is some kind of "framework" that's needed to run certain plugins, right?
Is the Free Kontakt 5 Player from the NI website enought to do that or do I need anything else?
I was thinking to maybe get ZomBass (or any other reasonably prized bass VSTi if you can recommend any) just for songwriting and the website says it requires Kontakt 4/5.

Yeah the free Kontakt player works for that. Though it times out after 15 mins on unlicensed stuff like zombass.

Ah, shit. Thanks for the headsup. So I'd have to get the full Kontakt library?

if you already own a licensed kontakt based sample library. like steven slate drums 3.0 or 3.5, then there are quite reasonable crossgrade offers to full NI kontakt at the native instruments online store.
but be aware, once in a year they offer a huge limited update and crossgrades at 50% rates, its even more cheaper and you can save lots of bucks
And once you own Kontakt, you even can upgrade to NI Komplete quite cheap.
