Why is the back of the cabinet removable when the speakers are front-mounted? The shop where I work is a Krank dealer now and we can't figure this out for the life of us.

One reason would possibly be that Speaker Jacks aren't the most reliable/durable thing in the world. Would you really want to remove the speakers and try and replace the Jack through the speaker holes in the baffle if you had a poor connection on the Jack? Also the cab has to have a separate back unless Krank carve them out of a solid piece of 1000 year old Transylvanian Hardwood, so why/how would you not make it removable? Nail it together instead of screw it? To easily access the wiring?, the list goes on...

Hahahahaha, don't underestimate the mystical tonal properties of Transylvanian hardwood, Hack!

diezel frontloaded cabs have the back glued in.

it's easier to replace the jack thru a speakerhole, then to unscrew the back ;)

I've replaced jacks through speaker holes before and it was no problem.

And as viggin said, many of them are glued on. Krank would save a lot of money by gluing the backs on instead.

I recently replaced the texas heats in my stein with 2 v30s and 2 T75's (X pattern) and had to take the back off to do it. They are mounted from the front but there are lock nuts on the screws inside. Some screws would come out fine from the front, some wouldn't. Plus the heats were stuck (and I mean stuck!) to the paint on the front so I had to apply some force from inside the cab to push them out. So I'm glad that I could take the back off and do it all myself. There are a lot of screws on the back so it was a bit of a pain but it was worth it 'cause now it sounds even better.

Maybe this answered your question?

The back on my Orange PPC412 should be removable, but it's stuck

It took out all the screws, doublechecked, but no! I didn't want to ruin the tolex so I removed the handles and tried punching the plate from inside, but no, no movement.

I was going to put two G12T75's in the cab, but I ended up selling the speakers because I didn't want to harm the cab.

how'd this work out?

was there any sound absorbing material inside the cab?

Hi Keiffer. I remember I had to replace 2 of the wires because the stock wires were to short to connect to the new speakers. Other than that and the speakers stuck to the paint, it went very smoothly. Thanks again for your help. :kickass:

It has a white, hard, I don't know, 1"? fiber stapled all inside except the inside of the back IIRC.

thanks Radd.

have you had much time with the new speakers? how's it sound?

Well, I can't crank it but they sound great of coarse!
As far as getting a good recorded tone at a low volume, I still have to experiment more with the stein but even as crappy as it sounds on its own right now blended with a 5150 (also at low volume) it sounds pretty killer to me.
I now have a better recorded tone like this than cranked in my Randall iso cab that I plan to sell within a few weeks.
I had built an iso box for the iso cab 'cause it wasn't quiet enough and bought some Owen Cornings 703 for it which are cut big enough for me to use as bass traps. :kickass:
I might attempt to use it as a vocal booth but I don't think that will go to well.

 I look forward to hearing it.

I don't think I've heard a Krank Cab with this speaker combo

I've been tracking a lot and comparing my V12 with V30's and while I still like the V30 better, the V12's top is a bit softer but it does not have the mid bite of V30.

I'm a fan of mixing speakers, so probably yeah I'd try it. I'm not sure I'd purchase speakers, but if they're available.

sounds very familiar, had exact the same with my old mesa oversized.
