Krank settings are (out of 10):
Gain: 0.7
Bass: 5.1
Mids: 4.9
Treble: 5.5
Presence: 3
Sweep: 3.5
Master: 6.5
Triple Rec settings (o clock):
Orange / Modern / Bold / Silicone Diodes
Gain: 8 o clock
Bass: 10 o clock
Mids: 12 o clock
Treble: 2 o clock
Presence: 12 o clock
Cab was Mesa oversized, mic was a 57, preamp was Mackie Onyx 800R. PodXT tubescreamer was used (can't remember the settings).
Part of me still thinks I can do better with this, and my reasoning is if I have doubts, do it again.....

I'm not running them that hot, I'd guess that the TS settings were like drive at 10 o clock, gain at 2 o clock or something. I really pester guitarists to pick like REALLY REALLY hard and I use pretty low gain. Was comparing my stuff with the KSE My Curse tracks and I really do have the gain quite low. I think with 4 tracks it helps fill it out too.
EDIT: My main gripes with this is that I could get it sounding more upfront. I'll listen again tomorrow just to make sure I haven't burnt out my ears today. When I compare it to this tone I think that this one should be more upfront.

still it sounds quite distorted for 8:00 I'd have thought it's something between 11:00 and 1:00 ....would you mind posting a short sample of one recto track alone?

I'm just working on some other songs and this tone is really kicking arse now. There was some stuff that was tracked earlier on with a guitar with shit pickups, while the rest was done with a decent guitar.

Damn, gain 0.7 and 8o'clock, that's almost nothing and I didn't get a sound that sounds so saturated out of the fireball of a friend with the gain set on 1/10 and a tube screamer in front (with active seymour duncans, and I pick hard imho...).
I use less gain on the tube screamer and higher level, but damn, that sounds like you put gain on 10/10 .
After the vocals stop it doesn't sound that saturated but it sounds really good and clear ( I think that's due to the little gain you use).
Sounds really good, dig that sounds, a tad more highs would be better in my opinion.

I was going to say it sounded a bit dark, but once the solos and fills kicked towards the end it was AMAZING.

This is being released on a pretty decent label, so can't really post anything else. This song was (I think still is) on their myspace as a free download. There is a load of recording blogs from the track on their myspace (and youtube too). The band is called The Eyes of a Traitor, check em out.

It's not too dark, but the cymbals are too loud which may have an effect on how you perceive the guitars.
