Krank rev1 started sounding like shit

Out of nowhere the other day my Krank just started sounding terrible. Really weird fizzyness, and TONS of treble. With presence/treble at zero it's still got this really annoying high end to it. It's still got tons of output, so would this be a preamp issue? I'm thinking/hoping it just needs some new preamp tubes. The controls all work the same, it just generally sounds like dicks now.

That is usually a sign of the phase inverter tube going out. It generally will get more output the brighter it gets. It could be tube socket oxidation or the tube is indeed going out. Other things could be the issue like filter caps or dry solider joints in the feedback loop but that is less than likely.

That's the answer I was hoping for. It's time to re-tube the whole thing anyway.
