Hi
what do you think about the krank's cabinet metal grill? There are problems when you try to mic the speaker? I've read that someone took the grill off before miking.
I'm asking this particular because I wanna build a 2x12 cabinet and a grill like that is perfect for what I wanna do..
Thanks

I don't have a krank cab so it may be different. But a cab I had that came with a metal grill let out too much highs. I ended up making my own grill for it cause it was too ear pericing... although I'm sure with eq, this could have been fixed?

As for micing... I don't see the need to take off the grill.

All of my crappy clips (from the "not liking my krankenstein anymore" thread were recorded with the grill on. I'm guessing it doesn't make much if any difference but I haven't tried tracking it with it off either.

I had an old-school boogie cab with a metal grill and once you get it cranking that grill would ring like a motherfucker. I hated it. I don't know if the Krank does the same thing, but you'll know when you mic it up

I own a Framus Cobra cab and our lead guitarist has a Krank cab. I prefer recording them both without the grill. (There's not much difference in sound, it's just much more easier to place the mic when you see the speakers).

I have one and there is no ringing from the Krank grill like on the old Mesa. If I recall, they built the grill with that in mind.
