KRK RP8s - can I do better for £400?

I'm in the market for some new monitors and I'm liking the look of the RP8s. Firstly, is it worth getting these over the RP5/RP6 models and secondly, is there anything else that's better for the price?

Beware large speakers in small rooms. I'd recommend spending your money on better quality in the mids and highs unless you have a decent sized room

What about the Yamaha MSP5s? They're the same price as the RP8s and HS80Ms, and they supposedly have a flatter response?

Gotta say i fuckin love my RP8s - though as stated above, depends on your room... i've had mine in medium to large rooms...

I'd count mine as a large room cause the monitors are on a desk in the middle of a wall 6 metres wide and 3 metres tall...

You could get a pair of KRK's older speakers that were made in the USA. The KRK 6000 and 7000's for example. They are passive so you would need to get an amp but I have seen the KRK's sell for as low as $150. They used Focal drivers which are really similar to the drivers used in the current Focal CMS monitors.
