Basically is the same question as Edu Falaschi was the major contender for Iron Maiden after Bruce departure but Steve wanted an English guy and thus Blaze got the job.

Or Satriani was offered to stay permanently in Deep Purple when he helped them to finish the tour in '93 (I have that bootleg :heh:) after Blackmore's departure. Satch said he was tempted but wanted a band of his own and his music.

Nothing like the what if scenarios, isn't it? ;)
 
One that would been interesting is D.C. Cooper and Priest...

You think so? I like Cooper's voice a lot, but to me he fits better in prog than in straight metal, never could get into Silent Force, but I love his solo album his work in Explorers Club and Amaran's Plight.
