they want to sound like a band called nails on southern lord records, with the boss heavy metal distortion, and they wanted it to sound kurt ballouyish, what do you think?

This - it could use way, way more room sound and less overt samples.

Guitars could come up a bit too, although I can't really hear the Boss HM-2 vibe much.

i think the band told me this is by kurt, the drums sound really sampled and upfront to me and not "roomy" . what do you guys think?

Try adding tape saturation to everything too, Kurt loves a bit of that.

ya he had one of those pedals, but he didn't like the distortion he got when we were reamping, so he just used his 5150s distortion without a pedal, and then it didnt have enough gain. so i reamped with axe fx 2 using the pro co rat pedal, cause i read that it comes pretty close. so i mixed the real amp tone along with the axe fx tone, just flipped the phase on the axe tone i think
