Hey guys, don't get on here all too often these days. Though I'd drop in to pass the word along in case anyone's interested. I just released the first ever DIY clone of the LA-3A. All the info can be found here (browse through the thread for pics):
http://www.prodigy-pro.com/diy/index.php?topic=41264.100
Quick summary:
1) Faithful recreation of the original circuit. Only changes which were made was the power supply has changed to a modern solution, which simply made it quieter and more stable.
2) Can be built as a single Mono Unit or a 2nd board can be daisy chained off of the first one's power supply for a Dual Mono/Stereo Link Unit
3) True bypass incorporated
4) All switches moved to the front of the unit (no more crawling behind your rack)
5) The infamous "LA3A mod" which lowers the noise floor and improves the signal to noise ratio is onboard and switchable
6) All parts are board mount now as opposed to the original, which massivley simplifies the wiring scheme for DIY.
7) All specs meet or exceed the publish original/reissue numbers. Noise floor of my version is slightly lower and slightly inproved frequency response.
Full component/transformers/board/front panel kits are available direct from me through at the prodigy forum. Input/Interstage/Output transformers are all exact same ones being depolyed in the reissues (was no easy task). If anyone's interested of wants more info hit me up over on the prodigy forum (username: ruckus328 as well) or email me at sbaudio1@gmail.com
Pic of the prototype can be found here:
