Charlie destroys Lars, I mean, if Metallica did a cover of either Caught In A Mosh or Imitation Of Life, Lars would struggle big time. 200bpm and 240bpm is a whole lot of difference

I read a Lars interview many years ago in modern drummer magazine (around the time of the release of Load) where Lars actually mentioned Charlie as being one of the standout drummers of the eighties that really put the pressure on him to be more creative.

Charlie is very technically adept. I remember after they recorded with Eddie Kramer on ATL, I read an interview where Charlie said he couldn't understand Kramer's comments that his drumfills were "out of proportion to the song". I know what he means. The best musicians know when NOT to play. It's the same thing as actors - you know they're good when they don't seem to be acting. Following this logic to it's conclusion, Charlie shouldn't play drums again. He should go sit on the beach. That would make him the best drummer in the world!

...but I'm sure you know what I mean.

I remember an interview with metallica when they released the load album and lars came right out said he spliced shit in to the songs that he was unable to play during the recording and that was for fucking load. I'd like to know what in the hell happened since and justice.
