now there's 3 great drummers. I prefer the stuff Gene does with Devin Townsend than the old Dark Angel. Love Lombardo's playing on the first Grip Inc album, especially Heretic War Chant - great fills. Charlie seems to be improving with age, kind of relaxing more and adding more grooves along with the speedy stuff. He's a class act.

I like both equally. Charlies drums fit the songs cos he writes em, and i love how lars follows the guitar lines. I even liked St Anger. I love how hard it is to listen to. Fuck easy listening metal, metal is supposed to be confrontational and you cant get more confrontational than those drum sounds!

That is like comparing Neil Peart with me. No fucking contest what so ever. CHARLIE is def top 5 in the world of Metal drummers. Probably top 3. He is up there with Rich Christie and Portnoy as far as I am concerned.

I remember hearing "Rockers" (a metal Radio show on 94.1 in philly) when the Pantera Bros were on there. Vinnie kept bashing the fuck out of Lars AND his drum "sounds" on STANGER. Quote "I didn't expect to hear the snare drum ringing so much!"

explain how? because i like listening to something that doesnt sould like anything else? in terms of production music (especially metal) seem to have hit a wall. every album has a similar drum sound to any other you care to mention and the only audio difference is in the actual playing.
And speaking of dumb opions at least i back mine up.

I think at one time Lars could play fills better (or just did it more) but I always have preferred Charlie.

Just like I always have preferred Anthrax over Mettalica even though I concede Mettalica was a better band at one time.
