Someone explain Last.fm to me I'm really not with it. Haven't got a clue about anything like this - facebook, myspace, bebo etc.

^it just registeres all your music you play via a small plugin you install in your music player (which is not wmp is you're smart) and sends that to the lastfm site which then puts it in your profile and gives you a weekly chart and later on a monthly, a yearly, etc. by artist and songs.

Who uses it? Everyone who wants to, should post their last.fm link, let other people check out what you listen to, or get some new friends, who knows
