Layering clean vocals (Confide style!)

Hey guys

After listening to the new Confide record, I fell in love with the clean vocal production and found out that most of the time it usually has 6 - 8 vocal layers

Would you go about this in a similar way to guitars? Pan slighlty out on some takes? Eq different? Compress different? Different levels?

If anyone has any experience in this it would be awesome to share your techniques

I would say it depends on the part and the song.

Sometimes I have them straight up the middle, sometimes panned out

do what feels right for that part of the song is my best advice
