Leon = Europe
The Professional = USA

It's one of the greatest movies ever, am I right?

It's also an example of where the regular theatrical release is better than the directors cut. That additional footage just slows the momentum of the film.

By the way, it's funny how certain songs/music work in film but may not necessarily work as well on their own. In this case, "Shape of my Heart" by Sting -- it's the outro song that plays as Matilda plants the tree in the school backyard and whispers, "I think we'll be ok here Leon".

Perfect.

Oh and Gary Oldman? How he didn't win an oscar for this film is beyond me.

Discuss.

very good movie.

and much love for Oldman

I even enjoyed a crap film like "Basquiat" thanks to the few Oldman scenes.

I liked the extended Directors cut on Leon ...

What's another good movie with Reno?

They delved too much into the relationship for me at that point. I preferred for it to be left subtle, or ambiguous.

Natalie Portman was also beyond excellent in the film, I can't believe she was only 11.

Ronin, which also happens to feature the greatest car chase ever put to film. And before anyone snorts, yes, better than Bullet, French Connection, and The Bourne Supremacy.

one of the best car chases I have ever seen besides the obvious ones mentioned above is in Striking Distance with Bruce Willis ... where he is some water cop ...

I won't snort, but man it's tough to say anything is better than "Bullet" for that car chase.

Does Bullet have a convoy of cars speeding down a highway on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic? No.

Seriously, Bullet had its day. Make way for Ronin, the new benchmark.

It doesn't, but had Bullet had the same technology at its disposal, it wouldn't even be open for debate.

Ronin filmed that scene at like 2 mph and then just sped it up [/exaggeration]. Again, I'm not saying it's not awesome - it is - but Bullet man, Bullet!

I tell ya, hanging around this forum and being cheeky and reading other cheeky posts makes me want to go down the pub and drink copious amounts of beer.
