I have The Mantle and absolutely adore it. Awesome band, and I am digging the new song.

The Mantle is without question an amazing work of musical art. I was actually quite surprised at how truly outstanding Ashes against the grain came out when following up a full length like The Mantle. This new song pretty much proves that Agalloch's creativity remains completely un-fazed after years of creating compelling music.

At the risk of being frowned upon yet again, I'd still have to say that Pale Folklore will always have a special place in my heart as my favorite Agalloch release.

It is a very special peice of work, I agree. The atmosphere and imagery that their music is able to create is especially evident on that album. I took a walk at night a couple weeks ago while listening to this album and it sunk in deeply. It is a very underrated album, but that being said I also think that John Haughm has grown as a songwriter and the band has matured as musicians since then. But then again at this point I'd say that Agalloch can do no wrong .

Pale folklore is certainly a good cd, but I prefer The Mantle, Ashes against the grain, and Of stone wind and Pillar far more.
