The drummer is some death metal dude I haven't met yet who's probably far too fucking good and will make the rest of us feel like the pretty hopeless excuses for musicians we are :)

The rehearsal space is pretty shitty (or so Hell Mike tells me) but hey...

I'm just fucking happy that things are finally rolling again after lots of standstill. Expect a 7" with about 3 songs of new material soon-ish.

I was going to post a thread about drummers, but this one shall do....

Drummers can make all the difference. When you sit down and write riffs on a guitar, the drums can either make it or break it. This is probably obvious to most, but something that's occuring to me particularly more and more as I write riffs in my basement without a drummer (or exceptional knowledge of drum programming).

I cannot imagine a better jamming / writing environment than one where you have a guitarist and drummer in the same rehearsal space, just feeding off each other....I've never had this luxury.

Examples of where the drumming says it all, off the top of my head:

Drudkh - Autumn Aurora....come on, it's all in the drum patterns. Remarkable.

Opeth - take "Demon of the Fall" as an example....the intro riff is pretty straightforward but it's Martin Lopez that brings the song to life. He adds the groove. You take away the drums and it's all pretty straightforward riffing.

So anyway, congrats Erik. :) EDIT: and footbalm.

My most successful jams involve me and a drummer, then a guitarist coming in and filling the void when necessary. Note: I jam mostly with funk, metal jams are pointless because there is less room for th.... I'm just kidding I never play metal in band situations so I wouldn't know. :loco:

Pics pls.

:p

I wish I could join a band but I don't know how to songwrite. I'd probably have that whole diva thing going too. :p

Drummer is only temporarily for starters at least, he's got approximately 289423946234792348593245 other bands and a european tour coming up so he doesn't ahve all that much time... But we'll take it one step at a time, first get the 7" out and then see what happens.

Congrats dudes :) my drummer just went to spend a few months in Africa :( and we didn't part on good terms anyway. Poo.

Actually, it was "Devastation" for me, but hell, it's all good. :)

I would've offered to play drums, but I'm kind of far from Sweden...probably a good thing, because Erik will now commence to find a way to kill me for thinking about joining his band.

Even though I can blast out the 2/4 beats for quite a while, and love playing along to "Inner Self" and "Ripping Corpse."

You always get to know everything, I told you yesterday = the same day I talked to the guy dammit. He's in Auberon and Bleeding and many more I either haven't heard anything about or can't remember the name of.
