I'm considering doing this, but don't know if many metal guys are into records. Your thoughts?

I'm a big fan of vinyl - but I don't see what the point would be for albums all recorded ITB. I'd rather see people release more hi-def wave files (higher bit and sample rate) like NIN did with the Ghosts release.

old school metal vinyls, fuck yeah, the way they were meant to be heard, but new stuff is nothing special.

recently i got The Haunted Versus, Machine Head The Blackening, Gojira the way of all flesh, Kreator Hordes of Chaos, and Mastodon Crack the Sky.

all sounded great, especially hordes and crack the sky.

while i prefer the vinyl release over the cd just because they have a more smooth, pleasing sounding mastering to them.

i just recently got into vinyl, thankfully i have a local store that has crap loads of metal releases.

why are you considering vinyl for your releases?

I was actually thinking about the hard to find or can't find albums. For example, I can't find Pantera's Far Beyond Driven for less than $80.

I think I'm being misunderstood. I want to license music from existing artists to release their albums on vinyl. There are quite a few bands that I either can't find a record for or it's ridiculously expensive.
