Limbonic Art – The Ultimate Death Worship
Nocturnal Art Productions – 2002
By Russell Garwood

Limbonic Art’s "The Ultimate Death Worship" is an interesting, relatively unusual symphonic black metal release. The duo stands as Daemon (lead vocals, guitars, nocturnal poetry) and Morfeus (electronics, lead guitar, additional vocals). The music is unforgiving black metal, complete with synths, samples, beeps and other electronic elements. Frenetic programmed drums add to a cold, cynical feel running through the relatively melodic guitars, while intricate programming prevents them from becoming boring. The vocals are as harsh as the rest of the music, slightly more guttural than the average black metal rasp, while there is a guest appearance from Attila Csihar on "From The Shades Of Hatred". The guitars are quite prominent on his release, with occasional technical touches, sporadic melody and tremolo riffs, while the synths are relatively unobtrusive. This said, they have enough of a presence, along with sample/instrumental tracks to create a spacey, slightly eerie feel throughout, and it’s nice to see them using more modern sounds, forgoing the bombast of many symphonics.

"The Ultimate Death Worship" is a good album, with enough hooks and changes in character to hold your attention throughout the lengthy, meandering songs. The relatively complex sound is still accessible, thanks to dramatic compelling keyboards and memorable guitar work, and Limbonic Art’s music will appeal to most black metal lovers, while this release is a must for fans..
