Line 6 Spider Valve

Thanks for that link.

Those are really interesting products. They make a sweet sounding clean amp, and some nice fx pedals to go with it. In fact, they include the Jekyl&Hyde with the amp. I would bet that the J&H doesn't sound quite as good through a cheap 3rd party SS amp, but that doesn't really matter here. These guys have a business model I haven't seen before (great sounding clean, single channel amp + fx pedals), and their products sound really good.

Great player on the demo too.

Ha ha! I THOUGHT the "Jekyl" side sounded familiar. The circuit is based on an Ibanez TS808. An 808 through a clean tube amps is a sound I've used for over 20yrs.

But it was a good choice. Why mess with a classic? :kickass:

Hey Mark, it's cool to "see" you too.

I've been off in "startup land" for the past year, pretty much focused on getting my company off the ground. It's taken a while, but now that we've landed a couple of larger investments in the company, I can breath a little easier and participate in that thing called "life" again. ;)

Isn't he great...I love his style and tone.

I wanted to buy a Jekyll and Hyde a few weeks back...couldn't find one anywhere....reason being, they've redesigned it yet again and must have stopped production a while back until the old units were sold. I didn't want to buy it without playing it. Everytime I do that, based on recommendations or reviews, I end up with an eBay auction...I have two going right now as a matter of fact...one is the BBE Crusher...I was VERY disappointed. I'm happy with my Tonebone Classic, but I think I want the Hot British as well...unless I can actually find a Jekyll and Hyde to try and that wins out...somehow I doubt it, but who knows?...right now I'm guitar into Marshall ED-1 Compressor>Tonebone Classic>Ibanez DDL10 DelayII>Roland BC-30 2X10...it's a pretty sweet setup...just want an additional over the top distortion that is also musical.

While it's true that the Spider series is quite awful, people are turned off to this amp just because it's from Line 6. I myself don't like L6 because everything sounds flat and digitalized, but after hearing some of the tones people have been getting, I might pick one up.

Some folks love the spider stuff and surprisingly, the reviews are always good...I can't stand them...and what's with those enormous volume differences between models?

For the price of the spiders and what you get, even though it sounds digitaly ( hey, it is a digital amp ), its hard to compete with. Now if spiders were like in the 1000 dollar range then they would have the worst reviews ever, but $ 99-400 and a low price for the head is pretty decent for what you are getting.

Not a lot to complain about. We have strong technology, a great business direction, and we've landed some good licensees who are willing to pay us what we're worth. So based on that, our valuation has been going up, enabling us to ask for more money from investors, while letting us founders keep our equity in the company.

Speaking of, we have some new investment money coming in as early as next week, so we'll be expanding a little from our current core. All good stuff.

I tried out both the 1x12 version and the 2x12 version at GC last night. The cleans were pretty solid, but the distortion was pretty much worthless. It was good for overly distorted chugging but that's it. The low gain sounds weren't COMPLETELY terrible...a useable blues sound wasn't too hard to find.

Overally, definitely not something I'll be throwing money down on anytime soon.
