Hi all,
I've been doing some tom mic experimentation in my home studio for my own purposes but figured some of you may find something of worth in this. In each clip there are 4 mics - Telefunken M80, Heil PR30, Audio Technica ATM25, then on the rack there is an SM57, on floor there is a Sontronics DM-1b. There's one hit of each in the above order, then it repeats with the a second hit of each in the same order. I like the M80 a lot on the rack, jury is still out on the floor for me - The M80 has a great neatness to the mids, PR30 has more beef, and the ATM25 has loads more low end though I'm not too keen on where the presence is centred around. I don't think the DM-1b really works too well on here.

Excuse the quick tuning and dead heads!

Wicked, I agree completely. Next session with one rack, one floor I'll definitely use that as the setup, unfortunately I only have one of each currently.. maybe it's time to invest in more of both.
