Live 8

Did anyone else watch this?

I only really watched it for Velvet Revolver and they were amazing! They played Do It For The Kids, Fall To Pieces (at which I burst into tears at, cos that song means SO much to me!) and Slither. Duff posted on his site that Scott had sprained his ankle really bad at a gig a couple of days ago, so much so that they'd thought he'd broken it, but you would have never have known that there was anything wrong with him. He put on a great performance, as did the rest of the band. The sound wasn't as good cos I couldn't hear Duff and Matt's back-up vocals but apparently there was no soundcheck, so it didn't sound too bad for not having a check! The crowd really weren't into it apart from a few people which sucked but I then again expected that to happen. Jonathon Ross said something afterwards about "You can come out now they've gone! If I've said it once, I've said it a dozen times - keep the kids away from the fancy dress box!" Then after Fearne Cotton had interviewed them coming off stage, he said something to the effect of "Scott's going to have to work after this, working on the buses judging by that hat!" Dickhead!! They rocked and they sounded really tight and looked as if they're having an excellent time!

The Who were great as well - I was disappointed that they never played Baba O' Riley like it said in the paper cos I love that song. Pink Floyd were the band everyone was going on about tho. They were good, but I don't see what all the fuss was about! I must be missing something there I think! I loved Wish You Were Here tho, but that's only cos it reminded me of Velvet Revolver playing is at Donington!!! (Yes, I'm obsessed!!!)

MTV is a steaming pile of shit. They cut off all of the performances, including Floyd. We had to constantly hear from their idiot Vjs, most of whom can't string together a coherent sentence to begin with, about how great the moment was rather than letting us SEE it. They cut off The Who, Pink Floyd, U2, Stevie Wonder, and pretty much everyone else. Total goddamn hacks.

AOL, incredibly, did it all right. They aired every performance unaired, without some knucklehead talking over it or interrupting the performances.

I really hope Floyd can stick it out for a farewell tour.

Aww I missed it - :erk: -Thanks for the review Jenna, heard from other friends it was amazing as well. I get so slammed with life sometimes I forget to look for stuff to enjoy (maybe I should get off the computer and onto my couch!!!) Where's my TIVO when I really need it? Oh yea, I gotta TELL it what to do! hahaha!

They cut it all off so they can sell it on DVD later. :Smug: I didn't see it either, but I really hate political speaches at rock concerts... it's like Actors who talk about stuff they don't really know about as if they're right! :err:

No problem!! It wasn't all that great imo. I caught some of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard from the Philly show. Bon Jovi were great and looked awesome but I nearly died when I saw Def Leppard, apart from Phil Collen they all look sooooooo old!!!! Joe Elliot was barely recognisable!!!

I caught the Pink Floyd reunion part too. I thought it was cool just to see them together again, and with the release of their new best of CD, who knows, maybe they'll stick it out a bit. They showed a whopping 3 songs.....*oh wow*. And even less of Stevie Wonder, and almost none of Madonna's set. I gave up after that and popped in an aerobic workout - LOL!

They did Money, Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here so you got the lot!!! Haha!!

Velvet Revolver and The Who were the best bands of the whole event.

Didn't see any of it but I loved reading the behind the scenes stories of the attitudes of some of the performers and some comments made during the shows, like the coldplay guys "this is the greatest thing ever put together in the history of mankind", jeez.

I don't watch political musicians either, they really bore me; like John Meloncamp now after he went so gung ho with his politics, I really can't stand listening to his music, I just turn the channel. I don’t like that touchy feely stuff, because it’s based on emotionalism and band wagonism.
