I think the biggest thing that intimidates me about it is what to do about an income, i.e. how do you pay rent and bills if you're on tour and not working? I seriously have a minimum of $1400. i have to pay every month just for bills.

well, theoretically you would hopefully sell enough merch to at least bring some $$ home. it's all about marketing: i say make anything you can slap a band name on. pint glasses, dog sweaters, bed spreads with your picture on them, flags, hammocks, etc.

A) a manager's job is to secure you a record deal, and then coach you on how to run your band like a business. booking agents book tours
B) most everyone I know from bands who were serious about 'making it' pretty much gave up their homes and stuff so they could tour. only once you start having successful tours, can you return and pay bills. it doesn't happen right away. to be successful at touring you have to play the same areas regularly or have awesome press so people will see you and buy your shit. pretty much any money you're gonna make on the road comes from merch, at least at first. it takes a bit before you can get a good guarantee from the door.

We were actually thinking about making a frame of Nick's bones and stretching his cured beef-jerkified skin over the frame to make a veritable Nick Kite. Of course you could only have one or maybe two of those. I'd definitely want to keep the one with the face.

oh, and if you guys are serious about touring n stuff I am open to working for y'all. we'd have to work some contract stuff out, but it shouldn't have to be very complicated.

that'd be pretty awesome! what exactly do you do anyway?

stuff I've been working on includes booking and publicity mostly. there's a couple potential projects for next year that I'm trying to get firmed up for bringing some bands over from Sweden.

I'm doing label stuff, too, but it's yet to really get off the ground yet. the people I'm working with have their first release planned for the end of october and I don't think I'm gonna be working on it that much. november/december is the golden time.
