I am only posting this here since X JAPAN is one of the rumored bands, which has sparked interest in this fest for some.

Other leaked names are:
SOUNDGARDEN
GREEN DAY
LADY GAGA (yes, you read that right)

So anyone who thinks X JAPAN will play any other spot except 2 PM on a side stage is mistaken......

I wouldn't go to this festival if it was the last music festival in the world. Soundgarden is one of the most overrated bands ever. Aside from a great vocalist, the band is boring.

I went to the Lallapalooza with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, back in the day.

Me too. I had front row actually.
First two rows of seats got torn out during Pearl Jam, so it was general admission for the rest of the day up front.
Ministry wiped the floor with everyone that day.

I would never want to follow Ministry. They always put on one hell of a show and Uncle Al's antics are always amusing.

I haven't seen Ministry since about 1992, but I am sure their shows are still nuts.
One time I saw them at UIC with Helmet and Sepultura opening.
The ENTIRE floor of the UIC pavillion became a pit.
EVERY chair on the floor was instantly flung to the side!

Glenn, I'm very familiar with Jesus Christ Pose. I just never could see the fuss over this band though. Like I said before, Chris Cornell is a great vocalist. Hell, even Ray Gillen gave him props, so that tells you something. :kickass:

Pretty much sums up early 90s alt/modern rock bands to me. Actually the only song I like from the era 1991-1994 was from Soundgarden (Black Hole Sun).

I really like Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, and Alice In Chains. Otherwise, I could care less.

Well he retired it now, but I saw their final show in Chicago and it had to have been the craziest show I've seen. People were even trying to mosh near the bars for crying out loud and thus, resulted in a number of fights and people getting thrown out. They're like the industrial version of Slayer that way. haha.

Soundgarden is one of the most overrated bands ever.

That should be followed by a "in my opinion".

That was one heck of a blanket statement if there ever was one ... :u-huh:

Soundgarden, IN MY OPINION, was a band of awesome songwriters, an incredible vocalist and a band able to renew not only themselves with each consecutive album but also the whole music scene they were part of.

I will be in Chicago if Soundgarden plays, they are one of my faves of all time.

I'm ok with X JAPAN only getting a 2pm slot. What difference does it make really? A shorter set and a smaller crowd doesn't change my desire to see them play. "Oh they're only playing for 20 minutes on some crappy second stage, why bother?" I can see the average fan thinking that, but luckily for me I'm certainly not one of them. When it comes to X JAPAN, that 20 minute set doesn't grow on trees ;-) lol! But thanks for setting us straight, Jasonic.

Never got to see Soundgarden back in the day but loved them dearly. It might even be enough of a reason for me to make the trip if the X JAPAN rumors turn out to be just that.

But thanks for setting us straight, Jasonic.

My quote was a follow up to the X JAPAN thread.
Many there were thinking that X JAPAN would possibly get a near headline spot.

Given these annoucnements of bands like Soundgarden, GD, and Lady Gaga, the reality will be they will get a lower slot. Nothing more, nothing less.
