Lollapalooza Rumors

I'm ok with X JAPAN only getting a 2pm slot. What difference does it make really? A shorter set and a smaller crowd doesn't change my desire to see them play. "Oh they're only playing for 20 minutes on some crappy second stage, why bother?" I can see the average fan thinking that, but luckily for me I'm certainly not one of them. When it comes to X JAPAN, that 20 minute set doesn't grow on trees ;-) lol! But thanks for setting us straight, Jasonic.

Never got to see Soundgarden back in the day but loved them dearly. It might even be enough of a reason for me to make the trip if the X JAPAN rumors turn out to be just that.

True, but as much as I love X Japan - they could fill that 20 minutes with one song based on Yoshiki's dramatic performances. I really don't think it'd be worth their effort for something so short. Do I want to see them - YES!! But with X Japan's track record lately for playing shows, I have little faith they'll actually be there and this will go through.

My quote was a follow up to the X JAPAN thread.
Many there were thinking that X JAPAN would possibly get a near headline spot.

Given these annoucnements of bands like Soundgarden, GD, and Lady Gaga, the reality will be they will get a lower slot. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think anyone was saying they'd get a headliner spot. However, had you actually read what someone said instead of making up a non-existent argument, you'd know that Lollapolooza is pretty generous with their timeslots. Most bands get at least 45 minutes because they're dividing up 100 bands on 7 stages over a 3 day period. There's only like 6 bands that actually get 30 minute sets.
Just look at last year's schedule. Three bands playing at 2pm got 1 hr timeslots. The only stage that regularly had 30 minute timeslots was the kid's stage and I'm pretty sure X Japan doesn't really fit in there.

Like I said before in the other thread, most bands at Lolla play 45 minutes or an hour, rarely anything less than that unless it's on the kids stage. Maybe when it was a travelling tour, bands did that but not on the destination festival that it's doing now.

Soundgarden is one band I've never EVER listened to. I've always been meaning to but haven't gotten the chance. Same thing goes with STP.

STP is good too, but Soundgarden is on a whole different level musically
