London photos

Hmm i dunno. They are similar, though i'd lean to the C-5000...
The MJU is a more 'compact' camera, which I don't like - I can't hold them properly (they're too damn small)... Also, there are a few features I prefer on the C-5000. But it's really up to you - go into a store and play with both of em.
Also, what are the prices? they aren't listed on the links...

Also, check out the new Fujifilm cameras... They have a few new models which are around $700. I think the model S5000 has 10x zoom and quite a stack of features, but only 3.1MP....

Oh, and go into a store and ask them for actual prints from the cameras.. Most stores have a book of em, and you can compare how the actual photos may turn out

Well, of the two the C5000 is the better value - there are no prices on that page but in our store it sells for only 20 quid more than the Mju 400, and you get way more for your money. However you need to go see that camera - it's not as well built as the Mju and it's a little... weird. The design is definately not one of Olympus's best. :)

yeh, the C5000 is a little strange. Looks a bit beefier though!
Dreamwatch, check out the Digi SLRs or even the Nikon Coolpix 5700, or the Fuji 602..... I have a Fuji 602, damn ugly, but fits very nicely in the hand!

I'm not touching a digi Slr for another year or so... they're just not good enough for the money right now. The only ones that take my fancy are the Olympus E1 and the Nikon D2H, but unless they come into the store used (I get an excellent discount on second hand stuff) then I'm not touching them. I'd go for a second hand Fuji S2 for the right price - the Olympus is a smashing camera but I've got alot of money invested in lenses and I'm not prepared to dump it for a new system. :/

602 is a nice camera - we've got some great pictures taken on that. :)

The Canon EOS300 is supposed to be pretty good, especially for the price. I haven't seen any images come out of it, but its been getting rave reviews.

I'm curious bout the Canon 10D, which isn't that much more expensive than a high normal digi... I know someone heading overseas, and if they can bring back a 10D i'd be paying $2100 AUS i think... The price of the 300 retails for $2000 AUS!

I'm mainly looking at canon and nikon, because they have the lenses I *will* be using... Got any other suggestions?

If you're starting fresh then go with the Canons - I hate to say it but they're wiping the floor with Nikon at that range. If you go higher up the price range then it's pretty even, the D2H is a lovely camera. Canon lenses and accessories are generally cheaper than Nikons too, which is worth considering.

The only other competitors are the Fuji S2 which uses Nikon lenses and the Olympus E1 which uses a new lens system called Four Thirds. Currently they're the only people making lenses for this system, but it's open source so other companies will be joining soon. If you don't already have lenses I'd say go with the Canon 10d. It's probably the best all rounder of the bunch when you take into account specification and price. :)

ooo, thanks for all of that :)
The Fuji S2 looks like a great camera. Actually, looking at the nikon lenses, they've still got a huge range. Expensive, but nice range! Realistically, nikon or canon will do a good job if you know how to use em.... Ah, i'm glad i don't have to make the decision for a while :)

Spruce, as Dreamwatch said, you're getting more for your money if you go the C5000. Go play around with it in the shops sometime, see if you reckon it's worth it i guess!
