ok, ok there isnt one look that we all have that shows others that we listen to metal, but, if you where walking down the street and you saw someone that you thought listened to metal, what would s/he have to be wearing or have?

These days you can't really say there is a metal look, but some people just try to look obviously metal. This is usually jeans, metal t-shirt, leather jacket, and lots of chains and spikes. Then, there are metallers who don't really try to dress "metal", like me. I went to a metal party last night wearing Marks & Spencer black denim stretch jeans, M&S blue jumper, Adidas t-shirt underneath, and Puma sneakers. Oh, and I have short hair. I bet if you saw me walking down the street, no way could you tell I listen to metal 
i dont consider the spikes "metal", actually i dispise spikes...metal t-shirt, or al black, long hair.

Well if there is a stereotypical "look" of metal...it would be long hair, a t-shirt of a band, and jeans.

there's just something about the demeanor. it doesn´t have to be long hair, sometimes a person just "looks" metal, without any apparent reason.
but the long hair always turns my head, for even if it doesn´t necessarily mean the person is a metalhead, it's a pretty good indicator

i know what you mean about demeanor... bad posture, glazed look in the eyes, and some how you can just tell they havent been laid in months...
just kidding... i dress pretty metal, but with a girlie twist. i LOVE metal girl-shirts, silver jewelry, jeans that fit right, long hair. i dont usually sport the leather jacket though. sadly i just finished school and i will only be able to dress metal during non-working hours once i find a real job.

I met 4 people the other day in my local store that all listened to metal, it was quite an experience.
The first was a large hispanic man who was kind of rude, but was asking if the new Opeth was out. I was in all black, and my Still Life shirt. He was in blue jeans and a black shirt.
The next was a guy in a Dimmu Borgir shirt, but you always have to watch out for those, cause they may be big posers. This guy kind of was, he hadn't even heard Emperor, BLASPHEMER!!!!!!
The next was a bald guy in an Immolation shirt with a long haird guy in a Pink Floyd shirt. They were both cool, and we proceeded to listen to Deliverance in their car and talk metal for a little while.
So basically all black, and band shirts. But sometimes you meet the guy that looks totally normal, and he comes up to you praising the shirt you are wearing, I love those people.

I sometimes look metal, and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I wear the metal t-shirt, black jeans, Doc Marten's, etc... but other times, I wear a shirt, trousers, shoes, etc. Depends really.. I don't think I look *really* metal, to be honest.
