looking for 1ch mic pre/converter, high quality

for a remote production I need the guitarist to buy a preamp and converter to track vocals and Bass and guitar DIs....

I do not want him to use his DIGI002 preamps or converters...

of course I recommended API a2d, but since the price is not exactly low it's clearly a bit out of range....

so I'd love to read some recommendations for a very (VERY) high quality preamp and converter combo with ADAT out

VERY high quality and low price probably won't happen.

The Focusrite ISA One Digital comes to mind. The ISA pres are pretty good on everything.

The Universal Audio 4-710d would be a great choice (though not much cheaper than the API).

ULN2 for mac. The preamps are amazing.
For windows I would go with a fireface 400 + audient mico or isa one

^~$1000 on the used market. Not bad at all, when you consider you get excellent conversion, 2 nice preamps and the MIO mixer, all in a FireWire interface that can be buss powered (and also has 8 channels of ADAT).

Think that's what I'm gonna upgrade to, after I make the switch to Mac

The ISA stuff actually is quite decent. I use an 8-channel unit on drums.

Same quality as ISA 220=sure.
Same as ISA 110/115= probably on some people dream
