Annihilator?

You mUST check out Jethro Tull - they're constantly on my stereo now. Try "Aqualung" first, then maybe "Minstrel In The Gallery" (the albums that is).

If you're going to download some songs to try out, try "Aqualung", "Minstrel In The Gallery", "Too Old To Rock N Roll" or "Hymn 43".

psypheria
cephalic carnage
severed savior
goregasm
emperor
apocalyptica
excarnum

thats a good start

Get into some stuff by Covenant or The Kovenant, they're the same band but with some changes, i personally think that The Kovenant are better, they are more recent.

2 essential bands that are not on the list:

Neurosis
My Dying Bride

Check them out immediately, they are well worth it....especially Neurosis

And if your feeling a little adventurous and wanna check out some non-metal then check out Godspeed You Black Emperor, they are absoultly amazing and will also help expand your tastes in music greatly.

Since you seem to like prog, you should check Evergrey, IMO the best prog band out there next to Symphony X. Get Recreation Day or In Search of Truth, both are awesome albums
