Lost In Rhone - Beloved Be The Ones Who Sit Down
Goodlife Recordings - DY100152 - 20th March 2006
By Paul Raw Nerve
It took me until the end of the opening song before I actually began writing this review. Normally I've scribbled down a good third of my ramble before the first track or two is done. Usually this means I hate it and don't really know what to say, or am resisting temptation to say nothing other than 'Rubbish, go away' or 'Heard it all before a million times'.
That's not necessarily the case here with Lost In Rhone. I think I just gave myself chance to take in this, from a genre I would normally these days just dismiss. 'Emo', 'Emo-core', 'Post-hardcore', 'melodic-atmospheric-emotional-core-core', whatever it is, Lost In Rhone do this really well, better than most in fact.
If these don't make it onto Scuzz or Kerrang TV then it's because they're way too good for it. If they do, then they will stand out from the usual indigestable rubbish fodder that is dealt out constantly by a fair long distance. Forget the utter garbage like Atreyu, Panic! At The Disco, the absolutely sickeningly bad Aiden and set these next to the better bands like Jimmy Eat World, who actually know what they are doing within this genre. Catchy and essential for the fan of the style.
