this is unsettling. i have seen the symbol |,,/_ in many places where \m/ would be much more appropriate. i think we all know, \m/ is the horns, but what is disturbing is the aparent belief that |,,/_ may be used as a substitute. if it were only |,,/ this would not be a problem. but look closely, there's a thumb. i dont know about the rest of you, but here in the united states the addition of the thumb in this hand gesture changes the meaning completely from "WOOOARRGGHHH" to "love." this may be american sign language's fault.

\,,/ is not as good as \m/, look at the angle of the pinky next to the ring finger. also, \m/ may be typed faster (without use of the shift key), the two middle fingers have width, and the size of the fingers in relativity to eachother is more accurate. there is a reason for \m/ being the standard. there is no substitute.
