Machine Head, C.O.B., Epica and Battlecross Tour

I would prefer to see Epica headline as well but this will be good as far as giving them exposure to other types of fans who normally probably aren't familiar with Epica. Plus I like MH and COB.

They just announced this show for the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA for October 31.

I'd seriously of considered going if it was on another date, but not on Halloween. Taking my son trick or treating is more important, especially since I just saw COB earlier this year, Machine Head plays here often, and Epica will have a shortened set. This show is also on the night following King Diamond at the Warfield in San Francisco. That's a really solid back to back metal attack!

MACHINE HEAD Postpones North American Tour To Complete New Album

"Alright, so let's start with the bad news: Machine Head was supposed to start up a North American tour early October leading up to the release of their new album Bloodstone and Diamonds. The tour would've been with Children of Bodom, Epica and Battlecross and have gone up to the first week of November. Now the whole shebang has been cancelled so the band can finish up the record due to some kind of delay. Super bummer!"

MACHINE HEAD TO STOP PLAYING SUMMER FESTIVALS

Machine Head will release their new album, Bloodstone & Diamonds, on November 7th in Europe, and November 10th in North America and The UK via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Band leader Robb Flynn has issued his latest entry in The General Journals, an excerpt follows:

"The first thing is we’re on the eve of a new album (and the world that a new album creates) and that in itself almost feels like a miracle. It’s been quite the three years since Locust came out in 2011. But those three years brought us to this, and this is where I want to be! The full album stream came out yesterday on YouTube, check it out:

Reaction has been amazing and polarizing. Extremely positive on one end and surprisingly negative on another, but I love it. That’s what makes metal so great, that people are passionate about, they fuckin’ care, one way or another.

The tour starts in Strasbourg, France and first leg of the Killers & Kings Tour will have us in Europe until we head home for the holidays. We then re-charge the batteries and hit the US starting in January. No rest for the wicked... or crazy... you tell me! But seriously January could not come fast enough as we’re really looking forward to doing something a little different than usual.

We’re doing 'An Evening With Machine Head.' Meaning: it’ll just be us, folks.

We are really excited about the idea, playing longer sets, throwing in some deep cuts, and just having our own world. Promoters in the US seem really stoked about it, some have said it feels like 'an event.' We’re going to do touring a little differently this time around, we’re going to stop doing all summer festivals.

As it stands now we have passed on a headline slot on Wacken, Soundwave Festival in Australia, Download UK, Sonisphere UK, Knotfest, Hellfest, and a plethora of other festivals throughout the world. In fact, we have made a decision to not do any festivals for the entire Bloodstone & Diamonds album cycle.

So yeah, if you want to see The Head, we’ll only be headlining the shows we play in support of the new album. Why? We’ve been doing festivals since 1995. We’re burnt out on them." Further details available on Facebook.

Although one listen is much too early to really be definitive one way or another, the new MH was a bit of a slog on the first listen. It had some great moments, but it also had some odd moments and seemed like it could have been a few songs shorter. I am hoping I warm up to it on further listens.

The new Machine Head album is an excellent, excellent disc... :headbang:

On first listen I totally agree. Locust was a huge disappointment for me so I wasn't expecting much with this, but I was pleasantly surprised. The guitar riffs remind me a lot of The More Things Change, which is a good thing because that's my favorite MH album.

New Orleans on a Friday night. Hell yeah!

MACHINE HEAD ANNOUNCE HEADLINING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR!
-----------------
Bay Area Metal Titans MACHINE HEAD will headline an exclusive tour starting this January, which will span all across North America! No support bands. No locals. Just a crushing two-hour set of pure fucking MACHINE HEAD!!!
"We’re doing ‘An Evening With’ MACHINE HEAD. Meaning: it’ll just be us, folks,” commented guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn. “We are really excited about the idea, playing longer sets, throwing in some deep cuts, and just having our own world. Promoters in the US seem really stoked about it, some have said it feels like ‘an event’.”
In regards to the band’s decision to only headline for this touring cycle as well as no longer play festivals, Flynn elaborates:
"We’re not trying to have a good time with a bunch of people who don’t know who we are. If MACHINE HEAD throws a party, big or small, we don’t want a bunch of ‘strangers’ there. This is about us and you guys, the die-hards! The Fucking Undesirables! We don’t care about the others out there. We’re here and we’re not going anywhere, if those people want to be a part of this, they know where to find us. So for the time being, and maybe ‘forever’ we’re done reaching out for them."

400 dates and no Florida shows is ridiculous. And they were scheduled in Orlando before they cancelled the last dates.

Flynn is kinda weird, he has said in interviews that he will never play San Diego again because they played here years ago and the crowd was not to his liking.

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/why-machine-head-fired-city-of-san-diego/

Though he did play a solo show here in 2013, so who knows with him :err: In case you did not know the comedian Brian Posehn wrote the song More Metal than You after a run in with Flynn.

"The other one was I met Robb Flynn and he wasn’t very nice to me. I met him and said I was a big Violence fan and because I don’t look metal, I’m just an old guy with a beard and glasses, I don’t know what he expected me to look like he judged me instantly. He said, “There’s no way you’re a Violence fan, name five Violence songs”. So here I am this grown man having to jump through these heavy metal hoops for this guy. So I named five songs and he’s like “Oh that’s cool you know your shit” and now I instantly hate you because you just made me do that."

Looking at the dates and the routing, I think there's a fair chance there may be a Florida date added on Jan 24, and a southern California date either just before or just after San Francisco.

I'd be shocked at that. That'd be seven nights in a row, not to mention the ATL is much closer to NOLA, and you have to instantly exempt the HOB in Orlando as a venue they could play because Disney has banned them from there. Tampa would be a possibility but still as unlikely. Hope I'm wrong.
