Damn...I think I may have to pick one of these up, cuz it'd be a good deal even if it was just a pair of Onyx preamps at $95 apiece! (which is all I plan on using it for after I get my Fireface) Whaddya guys think, worth it?

Thought you may be interested - You can hear a comparison of the DAC and preamps between the Onyx and a couple others in the HC Pro Review of the Alesis io26

Cool dude, thanks for the heads-up! Unfortunately, I'm having a tough time finding that review; would you happen to have a link?

Cool, thanks man! I'm planning on getting one of these to replace my MBOX2 as my main interface that'll hold me over until I can afford my FF400

it might be cool for the preamps, but i've heard mackie is scrapping them because the drivers are crap...of course it's not a problem if you're running it into the FF400, but it's something to consider until then

Wow, pretty amazing to read what a good interface the Alesis is - it still doesn't appeal to me cuz I really want a FF400, but I always wrote it off because of its price, and I'm glad to have my prejudice rebuked! Thanks dude!

Yeah, I read a lot of that thread before I got my io26 heh
Aren't the io26 and comparable Presonus products the same price though?

I still want a FF in the future, or maybe just some more preamps.

Only problem with io26 is no ADAT Out.

Nah man, the io26 is only $400, and the next cheapest interface with ADAT in's is the Presonus Firestudio/M-Audio Profire 2626/Focusrite Saffire 26 at $700! (unless you count the MOTU 8-pre, but that only has two analog outputs, so I definitely consider it more of an ADAT preamp with a firewire port).

I actually got my io26 for $300
To be honest, though, I'm on my third unit. I exchanged it for a new one twice at Guitar Center. The first one kept causing clicks and pops in my speakers. Looking back, this may have been caused by my wireless adapter at the time, maybe the buffer. I'm not sure. It could have been defective, just don't know. Either way, I exchanged it for another, which didn't have the clicking problem, but for headphone 1 jack the left channel was messed up. This one was definitely defective. So I exchanged it again and didn't have either of those issues again :)

My experience was pretty atypical though. I haven't read about anything similar, and I asked the guy at GC if anyone else had been exchanging their io26 and he said no.

Heh, $300/400 to $700 is a big jump. However, here's a Presonus FP10, which looks to basically be the same as the io26, but with no ADAT In like you mentioned (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/PreSonus-FP10-10x10-FireWire-Interface?sku=242036) and it's $400.

I always see people recommending Firepods, and I always feel so strange being the only one to chime in and recommend something different (the io26).
