Thought some of the Maiden fans out there might find this interesting since there was a post about Mr. Di'Anno a little while back





Former IRON MAIDEN vocalist PAUL DI'ANNO is "looking for a new band for live work throughout Europe. The band must be a twin guitar line-up and must live in Europe and be able to play both old and new style metal and rock and must be great musicians. They must have a good back-line, along with their own back-line transportation, and they must also have much experience of live work together along with proof of their previous live shows. Hmm, it was only a few months back DiAnno was announcing that Killers, Battlezone etc were all history and he had a new band called something like Gypsy Kiss which was going to handle all his live shows from now on. I'm guessing that didn't work out too well for him then!

Seems like it didn't mmurnau! Seems like Mr Di'anno can't quite cut it on his own (you'd think he'd have worked this out for himself by now!) and wants to join a 'known' band, like Ripper Owens joining Iced Earth. Paul Di'anno and O/D Saxon? Now that would be funny!

Your welcome, interesting about this, you would think he would not have a problem assembling some top flight musicians, after playing in one the best band's to come out if the NWOBHM.

Yeah, this was a story which had totally escaped my attention as well.

Anyway, aiming to simply recruit an entire, existing, polished band rather than going through the rigmarole of getting musicians together himself shows that he still thinks his name carries some weight in metal circles. He'll probably get one as well.

I think Battlezone were a reasonable band in the 80s and they had a good stab at what they were doing. The comeback album in the late 90s wasn't half bad either. Killers, his band in the 90s, was more of an acquired taste (for me, anyway, cos Pantera isn't really my style of thing) but they were good enough in their way.

Unfortunately, DiAnno needs some good songwriters behind him (like Steve Harris, for example!) to really shine, and he's lacked that a little bit. Most post-Maiden DiAnno albums have a couple of good songs on and then a load of filler. As a result of this, he relies on too many Iron Maiden songs and other covers for his live show. It remains to be seen if his new band will change any of this.
