I dont know how true this is, but I found it on an Iced Earth board.

" A friend of mine works at the Guitar Center in West Palm Beach, FL. He told me that one day, Nicko McBrain came in (he lives in Boca Raton, FL), and he got to
talk with him, and his manager even let him grab a guitar and jam with him!!!

Well, anyway, guess where Nicko left to a couple of days later! To England, to work on the NEXT MAIDEN ALBUM!!!!!!! He said it's gonna be harder and
faster than BNW, but still Maiden. Same lineup as BNW (Bruce singing, 3 guitarists, all that fuckin' awesome shit!!!). "

Ahhhh. Ahhhh! Harder and faster! Sellout! Sellout! Not being true to the fans! Boo! Hiss! Catering to the youth market! Not true to their roots! Slipknot clones! SELLOUT!

Just wanted to get in first. I'm not a cynical, sarcastic bastard for fun, you know. It's bloody hard work.

Or maybe they went to Troops' "liberated bookstore" and stole the slogans? :D

If only..

Hahaha stole the slogans hahahahahahaha!

Hopefully by "harder and faster" they mean they are gonna cut the progressive crap thatw as on BNW and start rocking hard again like the golden age of Maiden, the 1982-85 years hehe. Fast galloping battle songs and straight forward hard rockers. Hehe.

We can only hope hey heheh.

I hope they head back to where they were going with 7th Son.

What I REALLY want is an album where they treat each song like a piece of art unto itself, rather than bashing out just a collection of songs.

I think Seventh Son was probably the album BNW was closest to in style.

I think they need to get more to the point personally.

I think Steve needs to swallow his pride and bring back the man who made Maiden great to begin with.

Yes, I'm talking about Dennis Stratton.

I don't know where you got that from - from where I stand, BNW is a bit of a mess - more FOTD than 7Th Son, just with the style brought in by Adrian (who - and I don't give a fuck what ANYBODY sez - is the base from which all Maiden greatness grows;)).

I agree, tho, that they need to cut down on the song length when it's not needed -- and definitely weed out the utter shite like Blood Brothers, sentimental pap without any actual solidity.

And if they write lyrics like Nomad again...:puke:

Amen Brother!!!!!!!

Adrian fucking rules. 'Nuff said :) The 2 songs he wrote/co-wrote were the best on the album imo.

I vote for more adrianess on the new album! Imagine a SIT part 2...........phwoarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :headbang:

I've always wondered why people think Brave New World is progressive..

Adding 3 minutes in length to every song by inserting a slow intro/midsection and then repeating the chorus indefinitely and IS NOT progressive. It's predictable and bullshit.

I'm rather hoping they'll have a whole new change of direction. They've done the '82-'85 era thing before, as well as the Seventh Son thing (in about '82-'85 and 88 respectively from memory), and they'll never get back to it. I want "harder and faster" like they (allegedly) said. Something with more edge, like Chemical Wedding, or tending towards the Iced Earth vein of things.

Oh god, please, no! Not an Iced Earth direction!! This is Iron Maiden we're talking about, not a bunch of young rockers. Instead of aiming to follow trends, they should instead write music that is THEM.

If you want an Iced Earth sounding band, listen to Iced Earth ;)

(and if Roy Z even TOUCHES the new Maiden album, I'll chop off his fucking fingers!)

I didn't say I wanted them to sound like Iced Earth. I just want more of a sharper "edge", and Iced Earthish is the best description I could come up with at the time. When Powerslave was released, Maiden were very pointy indeed. Now the edge has dulled a bit. They just need a good stropping and all will be good.

A bit like they tried to do with No Prayer, but with more success, I guess.

How dare you! Roy Z RULES! He even made Helloween sound good! ;) :D
