This is the eighth record from Malevolent Creation but the first that comes out on Nuclear Blast and also the first with their new vocalist Kyle Symons (Hateplow), with a new drummer Justin Dipinto and with the return of Gorden Simms, their bassist. Not to mention the guest appearance of James Murphy in the song 'Assasin Squad'. The band has been around for more than 10 years and again they stay true to their roots, they are still playing extreme brutal death metal with some thrash influences in parts. Sure, there is not much development in their music but making music that is based on the same good old formula mostly results in something really listenable.

The Will To Kill won't disappoint any MC fan and I'm also sure they will gain many more new followers due this album. It is as brutal as it needs to be but also melodic in some way capturing the destroying power of the American dm style. The songs don't have too much vary in themselves so sometimes you may not know if you are listening to a new track or the previous one. Because of this the album is one big heavy piece of death metal, strong and crushing, as it has to be. Tight tempos, slower and faster grinds, uncountable blast beats, machine gun-like or just simple rolling drums, impressive guitar solos that sometimes turn into something like a screaming insanity and killer vocals - all essentials ingredients of a good death metal albums and The Will To Kill has them all. Kyle's understandable growls are a very strong point of the album. It's brutal, angry and aggressive, awakening the animal inside us.
My favourite tracks from the album are 'Pillage and Burn' for its tempo changes. 'All That Remains' for its simple brutality. 'With Murderous Precision' - the title speaks for itself. 'Rebirth of Terror' because this is the song that will make you jump into the mosh pit even if normally you are just standing quietly at concerts with its thrasher guitar riffs, sharp solos and the whole song is a pulsating brutal force in itself. 'Divide And Conquer' with the stone hard, slowed down tempos and with its catchy refrain.

Sure, it's not the album of the year but it's a must for every death metal fan who are longing for pure, straightforward death metal. Nice to hear such old school stuff like 'The Will To Kill' because nowadays the tendency goes to being ultra fast, ultra complex, ultra brutal… So, turn on the volume and 'PREPARE TO DIE'.
