man is there such thing as mixing FOR myspace?

I'll try that soundclick thing. Myspace makes things sound like the mids/highs are running through a crappy flanger to me... but some people manage to avoid that, so I thought there'd be a trick or something.

Thanks for the feedback.

True, but what sounds good on Myspace is not necessarily going to sound good on a normal listening setup, no?

Everything that sounds good before myspace normally sounds good after, just compressed and lossy.

Edit: Which doesn't sound "pleasing" so to say... but you know what I'm gettin' at.

well, i re-EQ'd the guitars some, but the dude really likes "bright" tones--prolly cuz he's half deaf...

Dropped some dBs off the snare, too.

Still sounds flanged to me. haven't had time to read the soundclick thing yet, but since it's not my band, I suppose I should leave that to them :Smug:

But I'll check it out for myself later.

I'm pretty sure myspace streams at 96kbps stereo, so I've been in the habit of converting the mp3s I upload to this format before hand and notice Myspace mangles it less (keyword less, it still sounds like ass). Also, converting to the low bitrate means that if any one out there wants to hack or rip the mp3s, they only have the low quality version.

The soundclick will be the best for quality - I need to get around to that.

Yea Ive been wondering about this cause some peoples stuff actually sounds pretty good on myspace. Now when i upload a mix there it just sounds horrible, specially when i compare to other mixes on myspace.

You may be on to something with that, cuz I too have noticed some myspace tracks that sound better than others, and whenever I upload higher bitrate mp3's, it seems to get crappier...

you know what i did actually and maybe I just suck at listening good, but i uploaded 3 mp3s of the same song at different bits and they all sounded the same to me. I did not go down to 96 or whatever they were all higher versions. Maybe someone can test this out and do like 96, 128 and like 320 or something and post the link here.......
