I went to this so here's a shitty review. The venue had 2 rooms and sets overlapped but there was never 2 bands I wanted to see playing at the same time. Evoken was the first band up I was able to get a spot right up front and snagged their setlist
Of Purest Absolution
In Pestilence, Burning
An Extrinsic Divide
Shades of Night Descending
Next band up was Encoffination. I checked out some of their songs on youtube and found them to be quite boring so I watched them play 2 songs they were just as dull in a live setting. I got a good spot up front for Cruciamentum who I think is probably the best modern DM band that doesn't have a full-length out yet. I was more familiar with them now than I was when I saw them at Rites. The closing track of their EP is killer live. After their set I wasn't interested in any of the bands playing until Grave Miasma went on over an hour later so I left to get some food and when I came back Sanguis Imperem was finishing their set. Grave Miasma was the only band on this line-up that I have not seen that I was looking forward to and they did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure they played all of the Exalted Emanation EP but fatigue was setting in and the last couple songs they played seem to blend together. Father Befouled was playing in the other room but I skipped them to stay up front for Dead Congregation. FB is the most blatant Incantation rip-off I've ever heard. I could put any post 2000 Incantation album and FB songs on shuffle and I would not be able to tell what band it is. Dead Congregation was scheduled to go on at 12:30 but the show was running behind and they went on after 1. They were FUCKING AWESOME the sound was excellent and the band was tight. The drummer is a beast. They opened the set with Martyrdoom and went into Morbid Paroxysm after it. I think they played all of their Purifying Consecrated Ground EP as I remember the first 4 tracks being played. They might have also played all of Graves as the only songs I don't have a clear recollection of them playing were Voices and Source of Fire. Dead Congregation is playing another gig tonight at St Vitus Bar in Brooklyn.
