i can't believe bands from Japan and Australia are playing this ... unknown bands at that.
and we can't even get a lousy RC fest off the ground.
Yep, I never understood the hype surrounding this fest. A couple of ok headliners and death metal bands here and there, but otherwise, the lineups are pure crap year in and year out.
To the kids into that music, it's a huge line-up.

Ars Magna said:One of the biggest things about this show is their ability to grab bands from around the world. In the US there is currently no other festival that can come close to this one in terms of worldwide participation.
Well, I guess if there's a market for it, then more power to 'em. If it's successful, then that's great. It just seems like if a festival of this caliber can be successful, a festival like HC should be able to do just as well if not better. Perhaps time will tell.
One theory is that a lot of Death Metal fans are more apt to want to go in and get hammered and start a pit, thus attracting those who want to interract where Black Metal is more of an isolationist movement whose fans aren't always as interested in being in public, regardless of the nature of the show. Any truth to this? No idea.
speaking of fests, is the Milwaukee Metal Fest still a yearly event?
Check out this amazing picture of the crowd assembled for the Vicious Rumours set. This was sent to me by a friend who was in attendance on day one. Keep in mind they were the headliner for Friday...
