Masquerade

Agreed, a perfect example of a bonus track disrupting the natural flow of an album. The fact that the song is previously released and conjures up visions of their worst album doesn't help either.

It may be their worst album but that song rocks, especially the added intro.

It's a re-recording from Symphony X's first Compact Disc, called............. Symphony X... which, by the way, they consider it just a demo... (couldn't they re-record it entirely, too?!?!)

You just read my mind.

You know I once thought the same about SX's first two albums; I never really thought highly of them at all, what with DWOT, TIO and V to listen to - until one day last year I sat down with them and 'discovered' them. Now I think they're both genuinely awesome, if only for that dark, beautiful, gothic atmosphere they have (no, not gothic as in gothic rock, but rather as in Poe). The piano intro of Premonition would be a good example. I think those first two cds have a very strong mood to them, and a lot of damn good songs too. I'll admit I can't consider them on the same level as their later works, but still they regularly find their way into my cd player. Even lyrically I feel they're great.
