OMG..the Ran site is total guitar prn!!! Has anyone here played a Ran?...they look awesome-spec and visually....oh that gallery!:notworthy

yeah the "gallery" section is incredibly boner-inducing.

i nearly got a guitar made through them several years ago. good price too, i think it was just about $2000. i just couldnt bear the 8-9 month waiting period for it to be built, cause im really impatient.

Great looking guitars, although most of their guitars lean more towards the Jackson and BC Rich style, which isn't really my bag. I wonder how much they charge for their customs, I'm assuming $4000-$8000.

The great thing about Ran is how unbelievably cheap they are considering they are custom hand made.

You pay half as much as the jackson and ESP custom shop, but their prices have been rising.

There is no doubt my next guitar will be a RAN.

Half when ordering, half when complete.

I may consider them as well. I've been thinking about a custom for a long time. What I'm basically looking for is a Blackmachine B7, but since those can't be had for any price, I have to look elsewhere, and I don't need an exact clone by any means, just something fairly similar (natural finish, amazing woods, EMG 707s.)

As for RAN, I like their Ken Lawrence Explorer clone:

And their ESP Forest 7 clone:

Clearly RAN has the skills to do the job!

Can't remember is I ever told you this before Kazrog but I just went to your site and listened to some tunes. Love 'em.

Thanks! :kickass:

We're (slowly) working on another record right now, or we may release an EP before putting out our second full-length, since there are people eager to hear new stuff from us.

Between me working on Recabinet and doc_backmask working on his doctorate, we've been a bit busy with our lives outside of Backmask, but we're definitely proud of what we achieved with the Dark Fiber album and we want to make sure our next release is even better!

There are great looking guitars. A guy fropm a local bands over here ordered one few years ago. It looks pretty good.
Too bad they are not coming up with their own model.

really good ripoffs of other good guitars.

no, seriously, they're REALLY good! well made, good craftsmanship etc...just don't feel and sound as good as any usa jackson or high-class ESP IMO....dunno why, inferior woods I guess

A buddy of mine had one custom ordered, a V shape (like Jackson KV), one hum, floyd with nothing but a killswitch. Basically like the one Peter from Vader uses. Costed about 1400 EURO back then, however they are more expensive now.
Unfortunately the band got robbed of all their equipment... :(

But I got to play it and liked it alot. The neck profile reminded me of the Jackson speed neck, so I felt very much at home. Good fretwork and tone, nice workmanship.

I will until the end of my life kick myself in the ass that I didn't jump on a string-thru Ran V that was on the german bay five years ago for 500 Euro... but I didn't want to risk it back then as I had never tried one. Argh. Me = chicken.

their prices start around $2500 usd for a fairly plain guitar

i've heard nothing but good things about the guitars themselves, but in the past year or so i've heard nothing but bad things about their customer service...apparently it's taking nearly two years to get a guitar from them, and they're quoting people build times that are far less than that

they have some beautiful stuff for sure tho

my problem would be waiting even 6 months...i just couldnt wait that long. Guess i should be more patient.
BTW, Kazrog i love that ESP Forest 7 clone too.
