As do the riffs. And the vocals. Amazing band...I'm proud to have a great band from my hometown. :Spin:

If you like the album, you'll LOVE the live experience. Anyone who has seen Mastodon will agree that they are 3x better live than on disc.
*DISCLAIMER - HEAVY OPINIONATED POST BELOW, PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND OPEN MINDEDNESS*

I still stand by my 2 year statement. Mastodon is quite possibly, no wait, IS the worst band I have EVER seen live. And Ive seen them live 4 damn times! The album is okay, my friend actually convinced me to buy it and listen to it. It was kinda cool, I mean the whole Mastodon experience was ruined for me when I saw their ATROCIOUS!!! live show. This comming from a guy who loves that relapse record style metal...Today's the Day, Neurosis, Dysrythmia, etc etc. Im sorry this is one band I just hate, they riff for like 10 mins and the bassist just yells, all I ever hear the drummer do is rolls and fills...I actually fell asleep when they opened for Dying Fetus 2 yrs ago. Yeah and when they played with High on Fire (who kicks their ass) in NYC, I was the dude in the Opeth shirt standing in front of the guitar player with the short hair, who turned his back on the band, old school style. This is probablly the one band no matter how many people whoms music taste I respect highly, keep telling me to get into, and I just cant.

Oh wellz. The album DOES has its moments though, and I dont mind if its on as bg music, but I owuldnt be caught dead going to one of their live shows again.

And that my friends was Thornie's 134689956789 rant on how much he despises Mastodon. :D Have a good day!

Mastodon rocks like a crazy horse.
It's hard for me to decide which album is better. They're both strong, ass kicking slabs of metal superiority!

What timing! I bought Remissions two days ago. I got Leviathan a few weeks after its release, and was very impressed. I think they are a great band in every way. I am just getting into Remissions and learning all of its technicalities, and am loving it. I like Leviathan better though, maybe just because I've heard it more.

I saw them live about a month ago in Cincinnati, and they were fucking awesome. Excellent live band. The main vocalist was very entertaining with his "insane" appearance he gave, (crazy faces and pulling out hair and shit).

Bottom line: they are a great band all around. I haven't heard their first EP though. Has anyone else?

Trampled under hoof - fav song off that album it just pumbles the shit out of you

:OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: wow!!! 2 years old!!!
probably vampyre found the thread on some search engine, otherwise he spent hours browsing old threads one by one...

I got remission about a year ago, so believe me when I say this: i thought it sucked when i first listened to it, and even though i have slightly come to accept them as they are, i still think they suck. HOWEVER, if they perform well at this year's Ozzfest, I may change my opinion of them and give the cd/dvd remission another look.

I thought the music was boring, plain, and the cd design and artwork was a bit too pop-culture based.

actually when i first heard them, it was remission, and i didn't think it was incredible, like i had been hearing. upon hearing levia, i fucking loved it, and then grew into remis..

as for the cd artwork..not one of their 3 cover arts is "pop-culture based" ...i don't get why you said that.
