And then caused the forum to be temporarily shut down?
And then the main guy started his own Opeth forum?
What happened to that forum?

You mean Gunhaver? Think it was him that started the other forum. I think it's still up, somewhere. opethforum.com or something of the like.

I think I used to post on the forum Gunhaver made... it had a really good music upload sub-forum with all kinds of recommendations from tonnes of different genres. It was pretty much the best forum I visited for a while, easily much more worthy of reading than this place had become at the time.

Then it moved to a different URL and I didn't bother following. I hear it moved AGAIN since.... can't be bothered keeping up.

Wow. Good memories on you gents. I couldn't for the life of me remember that guy's name.
The main thing I remember from that spin-off forum was how Moonlapse was a member and he was always ragging on Opeth.com. For whatever reason, they asked him to be moderator of the Opeth forum after it came back online and he completely changed his tone and was gone from Gunhaver's forum in a flash.
There was one genuinely funny guy on both forums named Brian and he was from New Jersey. His handle was Deliverance. I looked him up a couple months ago and he hasn't posted since circa 1973

yeah i was thinking of that forum the other day...i know there were other refugees that came to rc from that perpetually collapsing black hole of shit but i forget if any of them remain...did nick used to post there? i used to talk to that guy brian on aim here and there, i remember he worked at wawa.

there was a while where that forum was a total free-for-all. sort of like RC but monumentally dumber, with twice as many regulars, ten times more trolls, and infinitely more "omg lol wut brand of toilet paper does opeth use" polls

As was I. I still look there from time to time, on the off chance there might be some worthwhile discussion. Evidently it's moreso out of habit, because there's absolutely no chance of real discussion going on there.

Nah I fucking loathed Gunhaver with a passion. Guy wasn't funny, so I didn't post on his forum. I had this place by then.

Brian was a champ, I remember him fondly. Used to speak to him on AIM all the time. Last I heard from him he was pretty much town-hopping his way around America looking for the last virgin. Or something.
